Today was NUTS. Or should I say jungle wild? It was late start. And the teacher had them take all their things home yesterday. Except for a pencil. We started a autograph book but filled out info like what their favorite lessons, subjects, projects were this year, their friends, and what they're looking forward to next year.
Then they went to ELD class and then to celebrate the end of the rainforest unit, all three 3rd grade classes and the SLP 3rd graders came to my room and we watched 20 minutes of Fern Gully (secretly, I swooned inside when I heard what movie we were watching. I LOVE that movie).
We all went to lunch/recess and then came back to my room to finish the movie. We got done about 2:00 and then the 'fun' started. Fun for the kids, not so much the teachers. We were having a rainforest buffet.
We served tapioca, guacamole, cashews, brazil nuts, pineapple, mango, guava, banana chips, Nilla wafers and Almond Joy (though the latter is a stretch...coconut and chocolate, true). And juice for a beverage, pina colada (virgin of course!). We served 90 kids in about 1/2 hour. In fact, by the time we were all back in all our classes and had eaten, we had 1 minute til the bell rang.
I also had candies my Oma (that's German for grandma) sent me for kids but they were kind of crazy so I figured, teachers! Oh you'd have thought I was offering money. The teachers were so happy. One buddy of mine told me I saved her day lol. This is what they look like. Ladybugs are good luck :)
Awwww how sweet is your Oma!?!
