A substitute yesterday pulled me aside and asked if I was subbing next week. I said, yeah sure why not? I've done it before. Hey, I've even subbed the last two days of school in kindergarten before. She told me she's blocking herself online (we have an online sub system in this particular district) and won't work next week. Ok dear, you do that :)
I subbed in music today and the teacher actually wanted me to sing (doesn't she know my voice will scare the kids?!) lol instead of a video that she normally has subs do. Even the kids said, "Where's the movie screen?" and I heard some sighs as I said we were singing, especially since the kinder and first grade have a performance tonight. So we were practicing their songs and one little boy was acting goofy. Bless my heart when another kiddo said, "Ms. T, they shouldn't be goofing around or they'll be an embarrassment to their families tonight and they'll wanna disown you!" I tried so hard not to bust out laughing.
As their reward, I played a game that we decided to call freeze dance. I played music and they dance and then pushed pause and they had to freeze. People, I tell you that they ate this up! We ended up doing this for about 10 minutes in my three afternoon classes. One girl told me this was the best music class ever lol.
I took pictures of a project I did with kids yesterday but haven't uploaded them yet. I'll save that for another day...it's been a busy day. I just got back from a retirement party and I'm headed for another volunteer thing stuffing 350 bags for the seniors.
Happy Wednesday!
All kids I know LOVE FREEZE DANCE!!! Great if you have some spare minutes at the end of class :)
